Paint Stripping & Pricing

At the Back To The Grain workshop in Lewes, We have two large stripping tanks that are big enough to take large doors and bulky pieces of furniture. The stripping process entails soaking the objects in a warm solution of caustic soda and then pressure spraying with hot water which removes the paint and NEUTRALISES the chemical.

Most types of wood and metal can be stripped using this process, but please read our disclaimer.
For more delicate objects, we offer hand stripping.
After stripping and a period of drying we can also undertake finishing and polishing as required.

We are a vat registered company and 20% vat is charged on all services and products.

Doors & Furniture are stripped either by hand using a very strong industrial chemical, or in our tanks of hot caustic soda. Any chemicals used are then neutralised with hot water.

After stripping and a period of time to allow the wood to dry, the surface of the wood is sanded and minor imperfections rectified ready for finishing.
